No fewer than 12 individuals reportedly died in an accident on Oyo/Ogbomoso Highway when a commuter bus skidded off the street and plunged into Odo-Oba River yesterday.
In line with eye witnesses, the accident occurred when the bus was making an attempt to keep away from a head on collision with an articulated automobile that misplaced management and veered off its lane.
Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Highway Security Fee (FRSC), Mr Yusuf Salami and the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, SP Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the accident.
The police spokesperson stated the our bodies of the victims had been taken to Ladoke Akintola College of Expertise Instructing Hospital, Ogbomoso.
Ajisebutu stated, “The motive force of the Mazda bus misplaced management of the car and plunged into the Odo-Oba River. 9 adults and three children died on the spot and their our bodies have been deposited on the LAUTECH Educating Hospital in Ogbomoso. There have been three survivors. The police, with help from native drivers, pulled the our bodies and passengers out of the river. The car remains to be within the river.”
In his personal account, Salami mentioned. “From the report I had, the bus was travelling to Ilorin and because it approached the slope resulting in the small bridge over the river, an articulated truck took over the trail of the highway and, in an effort to keep away from collision with it, the bus driver veered off the street and plunged into the river.
“It was troublesome pulling the passengers out of the river regardless of volunteer rescuers that arrived on the scene early. 12 folks died instantly.”
