A banana vendor in Owerri, Imo State, Chibuzor Eze, has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 3-12 months-outdated boy and promoting him for N450,000.
The suspect was stated to be a household good friend of the boy, who hails from Umuifa village in Oru-East Native Authorities Space of the state.
A household supply advised our correspondent that the boy was enjoying across the household compound at about 8am when she allegedly took him to Owerri, the place the kidnap was stated to have been hatched.
She allegedly bought him to a person who paid her N150,000 upfront and promised to present her the stability later.
A girl within the village who recognised the boy was stated to have raised the alarm when she sighted the girl with him.
Eze and the alleged purchaser had been handed over to officers at Omuma Police Division in Oru-East LGA.
When our correspondent visited the house of the boy, sympathisers and kin thronged the household home.
The boy’s grandfather, Benjamin Nkemakolam, who expressed gratitude to God for his grandson’s rescue, expressed shock that the banana vendor, who he thought-about a member of the household, might harbour evil in opposition to the household.
The boy’s uncle, Chigozie Nkemakolam, described Eze’s actions as shocking and embarrassing as “she had joined them to search for the boy she allegedly kidnapped.”
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Andrew Enwerem, mentioned he had but to be briefed on the matter.
