Employees within the employment of Taraba State Authorities underneath the auspices of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council on Thursday shut down the state secretariat in Jalingo to protest towards the non-cost of their salaries.
Addressing the employees, the state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Peter Gambo, mentioned the state authorities had continued to be insensitive to the plight of the employees.
Gambo stated the employees had been protesting in opposition to different irregularities within the cost of their salaries and pensions of retirees within the state.
He stated native governments’ staff and lecturers had not been paid for eight months, stating that they’d been subjected to untold hardship.
The chairman listed such irregularities as unlawful deductions from salaries and subjection of employees to meaningless screenings and futile verifications by the federal government.
Gambo additionally alleged that the union dues have been deducted indiscriminately with out being remitted to the respective accounts of the unions and that authorities had given no explanations for this.
“Authorities has proven that the welfare of staff within the state is just not its precedence.
“Staff have been subjected to inhuman remedy within the title of screening and verifications that haven’t yielded any fruits other than subjecting them to excessive hardships.
“The marketing consultant has confirmed to be very incompetent in dealing with cost of salaries whereas the financial institution dealing with fee has clearly proven that it’s confused. All these should cease now,” he mentioned.
