The Director, Military Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, has warned civilians towards carrying army camouflage.
Usman said this in a current interview with Gistnation Media .
He mentioned such offence attracted a one-month jail time period.
“It’s an offence. I anticipated journalists to have carried out their homework very effectively. The Penal Code is there. And I believe the punishment is even delicate.
“Figuring out what the regulation says about carrying army camouflage is a part of fundamental civic duty. I additionally know that ignorance of the regulation shouldn’t be an excuse.
“Nevertheless, for the advantage of doubt, please know that Sections one hundred ten & 111 of the Nigerian Legal Code Act states: Any one that unlawfully wears the uniform of forces, and many others. L.N. 112 of 1964. 1967 No. 27(1) not being an individual serving in any of the armed forces of Nigeria, wears the uniform or any a part of the uniform of such forces, or any of the armed costume having the looks or bearing any of the regimental or different distinctive marks of such uniforms; or (2) not being an individual holding any workplace or authority underneath the Authorities of Nigeria or of any half thereof, wears any uniform or distinctive badge or mark or carries any token calculated to convey the impression that such individual holds any workplace or authority underneath the federal government; is responsible of an offence and is liable to imprisonment for one month, or to a fantastic of N10, except he proves that he had the permission of the President or of the Governor of a State to put on such uniform or costume, badge or mark or to hold such token: Supplied that this part shall not apply to the carrying of any uniform or gown in the midst of a stage play or in any bona fide public leisure,” Usman mentioned.
