PHOTOS: Togolese arrested for land grabbing in Lagos

A Togolese, Segun Sunday, has been apprehended by policemen connected to the Lagos State Particular Activity Drive (Enforcement) Unit, in reference to land grabbing in Oko-Olomi, within the Ibeju-Lekki space of the state.

Three different suspects – Ben Micheal, 31; Segun Muda, fifty eight; and 20-yr-previous Toheeb Ololade – have been apprehended with the Togolese.

Micheal hails from Owo city in Ondo State, whereas Oladele is from Oje city in Oyo State. Muda, the ringleader, who was mentioned to be a baale in a group in Ibeju-Lekki, is an indigene of the Epe space of Lagos State.

Two regionally-made weapons have been reportedly recovered from the suspects, who had been arrested in a raid on Wednesday.

The baale had reportedly owned as much as the crime and sought clemency.

We learnt that the arrest adopted a petition addressed to the Lagos State Committee on Land Grabbing by residents of the affected neighborhood.

The dwellers had complained in regards to the illegal invasion of their property to the committee, asking the federal government to come back in opposition to the hoodlums.

The petition was stated to have been despatched to the Lagos State Police Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, who directed identical to the duty drive Chairman, SP Olayinka Egbeyemi.

The Head, Public Affairs Unit of the company, Mr. Taofiq Adebayo, confirmed the suspects’ arrest, saying the CP had directed that they need to be transferred to the State Legal Investigation and Intelligence Division, Yaba.

He stated, “The Lagos State Authorities arrested 4 infamous land grabbers and recovered two regionally-made weapons and different weapons. The federal government’s motion was sequel to a petition submitted to the Lagos State Committee on Land Grabbing by the individuals of Oko-Olomi Golf Course space of Ibeju-Lekki.

“The Commissioner of Police, after being briefed concerning the arrested land grabbers, directed that all of them be transferred to the SCIID, Yaba, Lagos, for additional interrogation. Muda refused to say something apart from interesting to the federal government, whereas others claimed they have been many within the enterprise.

“Whereas urging members of the general public to report actions of land grabbers to the committee on land grabbing, the federal government has reiterated that the warfare on actions of land grabbers is ongoing throughout the state.”
