The Rivers State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has taunted the rival All Progressives Congress (APC) after the Appellate Court on Thursday upheld the election of Sam Ogeh for the Emohua State Constituency.
Following the ruling, described by the PDP as unanimous, the party’s regional chairman, David Obuah, dismissed the challenge by APC as a desperate bid.
Similarly, PDP welcomed the Appeal Court’s dismissal of appeals filed by Sir Collins Owhonda and Eric Apia, who were respectively challenging the elections of Blessing Nsiegbe and Martins Mannah.
PDP rejoiced the latest judgments by the Appellate Court came a few days after a victory by Okechukwu Kingsley Chinda over Tony Okocha for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency I at the same court.
Obuah expressed happiness at the rulings.
He said the party and the government in the state had remained focused and committed in delivering the dividends of democracy to Rivers people and all Nigerians.
“We hope that in the coming days, all arms of government in the State will be at their best and Rivers people will not regret giving us their mandate,” said Obuah.
“We would therefore appeal to Mr. Chidi Lloyd and the APC leaders to join hands with our performing governor, Nyesom Wike, in moving the State forward, rather than making efforts to pull down the fast developing state.”
