EKU—TENSION is brewing in Ovre r’Eku and Igbi-Igun communities in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State over claims by some indigenes of Edo State who had approached an Edo State High Court sitting in Benin, claiming ownership of over 14 hectares of land covering 10 Urhobo communities in Delta State.
Ovre r’Eku and Igbi- Igun communities have been in dispute by Edo and Delta states leading to an agreement by the National Boundary Commission, NBC and representatives of both states to maintain the status quo pending the final determination of the boundary demarcation by the NBC.
It was gathered that the claimants who are from Obagie Nunuamen community, had slammed a N1 billion suit against PRESCO Plc, a company with operations in Ovre r’Eku and Igbi-Igun communities for trespassing on their land measuring 14,436,823 hectares.
